Ave Eva is a musical written from the point of view of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as she reverses the fall of Eve. In this drama of cosmic proportions, Mary is portrayed in her traditional archetypal roles of Virgin, Mother and Warrior Queen. At each stage of her development, she is tempted by the evil one, but unlike her progenitor, Eve, she emerges triumphant! Guaranteeing the salvation of all humankind, for all time. In this nuanced retelling of Mary's temptations, the key to her triumph is revealed to be her unique and intimate relationship with the three Persons of the Blessed Trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit - all embodied by the talented cast. The music that accompanies each stage of the play expresses of the psyche of the main protagonists. It is a daring mix of the sacred and the secular, the African and the European, the Gregorian and the Hildegardian.
