Kenya will be hosting the 2025 Africa Women’s Sevens Cup, a World Rugby Challenger Series (SVNS Division 3) qualifier, scheduled for 14–15 November 2025 at the RFUEA Grounds, Ngong Road, Nairobi.
Speaking on the country’s readiness to stage the event, Cabinet Secretary, Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Office, Hon. Salim Mvurya, EGH, extended a warm welcome to the 11 national teams taking part in the event, Zambia, Tunisia, South Africa, Burkina Faso, Mauritius, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Madagascar, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, and Ghana.
“The championship further demonstrates the Government’s unwavering commitment to advance rugby at every level, from grassroots pathways that identify and develop young talent, to high-performance systems that prepare our national teams for continental and global competition,” he said.
Formerly known as the CAR Women's Sevens, the championship is a qualifier for international competitions, including the World Rugby Challenger Series and the Olympic Games.
While Kenya has already secured a place in SVNS Division 2, the team will be playing to defend national pride and ensure the African title.
The current champions, South Africa, will also be eyeing qualification, alongside past winners Uganda, Tunisia, and the ever-exciting Madagascar, setting the stage for an electrifying championship.
South Africa has historically been the most dominant team, winning 11 titles. while Kenya and Tunisia have also claimed historic single victories each, with Kenya’s sole victory coming in 2018.
The 12 teams split across four pools as follows:
POOL A : South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mauritius
POOL B: Kenya, Ghana,Cote D`Ivoire
POOL C: Uganda, Zambia, Burkina Faso
POOL D: Madagascar, Tunisia, Egypt
