Sunshine on the Third Ask: Musings for International Women's Day

In my mind, you can always find something devilishly interesting in every woman that you wouldn’t find in any other. The very fact that she is a woman is half the battle, but how could you grasp the other half?

I read that somewhere once, dismissed it as the ramblings of a tipsy character. Until today, when I was nudged to write something special for International Women’s Day, three days early, no less!

I confess: I was flatfooted. The poor sod in me, usually quick with something uncanny, had nothing. Discernment is a plague when you’re trying to capture magnificence. Maybe Margaret Thatcher had it right after all: if you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman.

So I waited. Waited a little, hoping three days might reveal the architects of society, the real strength of a woman. Spoiler: three days weren’t enough. Not fully.

But at the risk of conflagration (or at least not earning my keep), I ventured to ask, bracing for heartache, or perhaps sunshine on my face. Because a woman, after all, is a tempest.

And on the third ask… it was sunshine.

“Not the physical, but the emotional and mental strength,” Sally offered, getting on like a bush on fire. “The ability to persevere, to be resilient, to stand her ground while caring for others, not just herself.”

Working in the events space, she sees it all: from barricades and service desks to boardrooms and suites. So I asked about the most stubborn misconception men still carry about women in our world.

“Are her decisions or ideas worthy to be executed?” Sally said. “Even with all the gender equality talk, we’re not always considered enough to make choices or stand for positions, especially if a guy’s offering the same thing.”

Simple, yet divine in its clarity.

And the ideal society? “One that treats women with respect, dignity, and doesn’t try to undermine them,” she said. Plain and powerful.

In our TikoHUB world of crowds, chaos, and magic moments, women like Sally give that emotional steel every day. turning rainy nights into legends, holding teams together when the set collapses, caring fiercely while pushing forward. They give resilience, vision, heart… and we all gain unforgettable experiences, stronger bonds, better events.

This International Women’s Day, under the call to Give To Gain, let’s celebrate those who give so generously. Because when women rise, the whole scene lights up brighter.

Happy International Women’s Day, to Sally, to every woman turning tempests into triumphs. Thank you for the sunshine.
